PWS100RX1

PWS100RX1

Network Station for XDCAM

The PWS-100RX1 Wireless Streaming Receiver offers high-quality live streaming from XDCAM Camcorders on a single 4G/LTE cellular channel or Wi-Fi network. The PWS-100RX1 uses Sony’s unique QoS (quality of service) technology or MPEG2-TS to maintain video and audio integrity during transmission. Each unit can receive up to 30 live streams simultaneously and output up to two through SDI. The PWS-100RX1includes reference and timecode input connectors, which enable synchronized operation with broadcast systems. In addition, it can output in a variety of broadcast formats, including 1080i and 720p. The PWS-100RX1 system comes with preinstalled Connection Control Manager software that enables easy connection to camcorders and delivers efficient handling of the live streams. The system is compatible with 4G/LTE or Wi-Fi dongles or the CBK-WA100 and CBK-WA101 wireless LAN adapter. The PXW-X180, PXW-X200 and PXW-X500 camcorders have built-in live streaming version upgrades(*1). As well as live streaming, a planned upgrade will allow the unit to receive files transferred direct from camcorders.(*2)

Features                                                         Benefits:
Cost efficient live streaming of 1080i and 720p over 4G/LTE or Wi-Fi Live streaming video and audio direct from XDCAM camcorders using 4G/LTE and Wi-Fi networks in a variety of broadcast formats, including 1080i and 720p. The system can handle QoS live streams up to a maximum of 6 Mbps.
Direct streaming from XDCAM camcorders The system works with a 4G/LTE or Wi-Fi dongle, or with the CBK-WA100 and CBK-WA101 XDCAM camcorders wireless LAN adapters. The PXW-X180, PXW-X200 and PXW-X500 have built-in live streaming version upgrades(*1). The upgrades allow operators to check PWS-100RX1 connection status directly from the camcorder’s viewfinder, enabling more efficient operation.

*1 PXW-X500 upgrade scheduled for autumn 2015
Two SDI outputs on each unit for dual live streams Each PWS-100RX1 unit can simultaneously control two SDI outputs: these can be used to live stream from two locations at the same time. Multiple units can be used together to increase capacity.
Connection Control Manager software for efficient system management The Connection Control Manager software enables easy connection to camcorders and delivers efficient handling of the live streams. The software is preinstalled on the PWS-100RX1 and presents a comprehensive GUI that can be used, for example, to view thumbnails from multiple camcorders; to control camcorder connections, transmission bit rates, and latency settings; and to monitor output from multiple PWS-100RX1 units.
Sony's unique QoS live streaming technology The PWS-100RX1 uses Sony's unique QoS (Quality of Service) technology to maintain video and audio integrity during transmission. Packet loss during streaming can degrade image quality, cause image freezing and disrupt the audio. The combination with compatible cameras and the PWS-100RX1 comes with original Sony algorithms that automatically adjust bandwidths and buffer sizes to match the characteristics of the wireless transmission. Users can be confident of high-quality streaming without concerning themselves with bandwidth settings and other technical issues. In particular, the Sony's QoS live streaming includes Real-time ARQ (automatic repeat request), adaptive rate control (ARC) and forward error correction (FEC).
